Brooke considers herself a multimedia journalist. She can write, report, shoot and edit her own stories. She also understands the importance of getting a story out to the public, so she takes it upon herself to promote her stories on social media.

Brooke believes that opportunities do not come to you; Instead, you must make opportunities for yourself. So, Brooke pursued every extracurricular activity involved with journalism that she could.

She has two Aztec alum mentors, former ABC international correspondent and New York Times reporter John Martin. Brooke paired up with Martin for the Aztec Mentor Program. In addition to Martin, she has job shadowed KTLA and San Diego 6 correspondent Crystal Fambrini for more than three years. These two mentors taught her the importance of thinking on her feet and being a go-getter in this fast-paced industry.

Brooke has blogged for the lifestyle website Style Seen Daily and co-founded the weekly Hollywood Happenings column for SDSU’s newspaper The Daily Aztec. She also co-created KCR’s radio program The Hollywood Thread focused on entertainment and fashion trends in Hollywood.

But what Brooke loves the most is broadcast reporting. She created news packages, and produced, wrote and reported her own entertainment segment for Aztec News and JMS Reports.

Brooke got a taste of L.A. interning at the start up company What’s Trending where she sharpened her blogging and social media skills. She most recently interned at U-T TV (formerly known as San Diego Union Tribune) where she practiced her on-air presence and interviewing skills.
